Benefits of Membership

AIIEC Code of Conduct

As members of the All India Independent Education Consultants (AIIEC), we affirm our commitment to the highest standards of ethical, transparent, and student-focused educational counseling. This Code of Conduct is binding upon all members and outlines the principles that govern our professional conduct:

Student-Centered Counseling

AIIEC Members are encouraged to steer clear of associations that might lead to real or perceived conflicts of interest and hinder their capacity to provide impartial judgment and guidance to the families they serve.

Prohibition of Commission-Based Admissions

(i) Members must not accept commissions or any form of compensation from educational institutions or agents in exchange for student admissions. Any prior or existing affiliations with institutions must be fully disclosed to clients.

(ii) Exception to the above would be concerning Australian admissions or selected American, British, or Swiss Boarding Schools: IECs may refer students to an Australian agent, and take a referral payment, not commission for admissions. Consequently, they may not charge the student or family for Australian admissions.

Transparency in Fees and Services

Before initiating work, members must provide clients with a written agreement outlining the scope of services, deliverables, timelines, and all associated fees. Hidden charges or retrospective billing are strictly prohibited.

No Guarantees of Admission or Scholarships

(Members shall not guarantee admission, scholarships, or any other outcomes. Any promotional materials or verbal communication suggesting guaranteed results is considered unethical and a breach of this code.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

Members shall protect the confidentiality of student information and shall not share data with any third party without explicit, written consent. Data must be stored and handled by applicable data protection laws.

Respect, Equity, and Inclusion

Members must treat everyone with dignity and fairness. Any form of discrimination is prohibited.

Members shall actively foster inclusive & respectful environments in all interactions, ensuring every client feels heard, valued, & supported.

Professional Conduct and Communication

Members must maintain professionalism in all written, verbal, & digital communications. Derogatory, defamatory, or discriminatory comments whether public or private—against institutions, individuals, or fellow members are not acceptable.

Honest Representation of Qualifications

Members must truthfully represent their credentials, expertise, affiliations, and the scope of services offered. Misleading claims or implying preferential access to institutions is strictly prohibited.

Ongoing Professional Development

Members are expected to remain informed about trends & changes in the global & Indian education sectors. Participation in AIIEC’s professional development programs is strongly encouraged to ensure continued competence and relevance.

Accountability and Disciplinary Action

Members who violate this Code of Conduct may be subject to review and disciplinary measures by AIIEC, including warnings, suspension, or revocation of membership, depending on the severity of the breach.

Public Statements, Social Media, and Branding

A) Responsible Communication

Public representations—including advertising, website content, media appearances, and social media posts—must be accurate, respectful, and free from exaggeration or fear-based messaging. Members shall not exploit student anxieties or sensationalize outcomes.

B) Legal and Regulatory Compliance

Members shall operate in full compliance with all applicable local, state, and national laws, including those related to taxation, advertising, business licensing, and data protection.

C) Truthful Claims

All claims related to institutional rankings, admission success rates, test score improvements, or application conversions must be factually substantiated and not misleading.

D) Use of AIIEC Branding

Members may reference their AIIEC membership and use the AIIEC logo following the brand usage guidelines. Such references must not imply endorsement or accreditation by AIIEC beyond membership status.

Membership Termination Policy

Effective: June 01, 2025

Purpose
This policy is intended to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the AIIEC community. It outlines the conditions, procedures, and rights associated with the termination of membership.

Scope
This policy applies to all current AIIEC members and to those joining after June 1, 2025. It governs both voluntary and administrative terminations and remains in force unless revised or replaced.

Grounds for Termination

Misrepresentation:
Providing false or misleading information about affiliations, student outcomes, or professional claims.

Breach of Confidentiality:
Sharing sensitive information related to clients, students, members, or AIIEC operations without explicit permission.

Conflict of Interest:
Accepting commissions or payments from colleges/universities for student admissions (a prohibited practice).

Unprofessional Conduct:

  • Spreading rumors or misinformation about members or the organization.
  • Making offensive or derogatory statements in public or digital forums.
  • Engaging in unethical recruitment or self-promotion in member-only spaces.

Violation of Code of Conduct:
Any breach of the Code of Conduct may lead to termination.

Review Procedure

Concerns may be reported confidentially to the President(s). A preliminary review will begin within 3 working days.

A meeting will be held within 7 working days to gather context and evidence from all parties.

Within 7 additional working days, the leadership team will:
  • Review testimonies and documents
  • Conduct follow-up interviews if needed
  • Consult ethical or legal guidelines

A formal decision will be shared within 10 working days. Outcomes may include:
  • Dismissal of complaint
  • Warning or corrective action
  • Initiation of termination proceedings

Termination Procedure

If a serious breach is confirmed:
  • A written notice will be sent, including:
    • Nature of the breach
    • Summary of evidence
    • Timeline of events and decisions
  • The member has 3 working days to respond with a final statement or appeal.

The final termination decision will be issued within 5 working days of receiving the member’s response.
Upon termination:
  • All access and privileges are revoked
  • The member will be formally removed from AIIEC records
*Note:* Timelines may be extended during peak seasons (Sept–Dec). ​

Appeal and Reinstatement

Right to Appeal

  • Members may appeal within 15 working days of receiving the termination notice.
  • Appeals must be submitted in writing with supporting documentation.

Exit Interview
A structured exit interview may be offered to:

  • Gather feedback
  • closure
  • Collect any AIIEC property/resources

Reinstatement

  • Reapplication allowed after 12 months
  • Must include documentation of corrective actions taken
  • Subject to review and discretion of the leadership team

Confidentiality
All proceedings and communications related to termination are strictly confidential to protect the dignity and privacy of all parties

Who can
become a member

Becoming a member of AIIEC is a simple three-step process

  • Fill out the application form and submit your details through the online membership form.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for a short interaction, and the final decision will be taken thereafter.
  • Reference checks will be conducted directly with the referees provided by the applicant, after which a decision on membership will be made.
